New Year New Hobby 4 New Hobbies For 2019

The festive period is now behind us and at this time of year we usually look forward, and often make a series of unattainable or outlandish new year resolutions. If you’re looking for a new hobby as part of these resolutions we’ve collated 4 new hobbies that is real easy to maintain at Comicrazy Cafe. So in no particular order:

1 – Board Games Night

What better way to start a new hobby than to meet with friends, crack open a board game and play the evening away. Board games have shown that they can increase brain function, decrease stress, enhances creativity, self confidence and build, maintain and strengthen relationships.

We’ve got over 100 free to use board games in our library so why not arrange a board game night, try out some new games and see what the night brings.</p>

2 – Role Play Games

The runaway success of tv shows such as Big Bang Theory, the Netflix hit Stranger Things and Youtube sensation Critical Role there’s never been a better time to get involved in tabletop role playing games.</p>

These games may seem a bit intimidating at first but once you’re in a party with a great Games Master, it’s a fun and challenging format which has become an incredible life changing hobby for many people.

t’s not all about Dungeons and Dragons either There are other formats, games and systems such as Pathfinder, Call of Cthulhu, Vampire: The Masquerade and Shadowrun. This is just scraping the surface of a whole new world that awaits you.

3 – Collectible Card Games

It would be impossible to write an article about “Geek Hobbies” without including collectible card games, if you’re not currently into card games you might remember Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh! and Magic The Gathering from your school years.

Well, these games haven’t gone away in fact they have gone from strength to strength in recent years, and boast a huge community of eager players always willing to help newbies. Whether in a casual capacity or there are some amazing competitive players out there for the more advanced or committed element of the game.</p>

4- Collect Comic Books

Comic books are for kids right?  Wrong, many comic books from Marvel, DC, Image and other publishers are rated either T for Teens or M for mature. Comic books is an incrdible medium to tell fantastic stories. All you have to do is go to the cinema and the major new release is that of a comic book, tune into Netflix or Amazon prime and comic book tv series are everywhere grittier, darker and more “real” than they have ever been before.

Why not check out the original source material and inspiration for these movies and tv shows? Wether it’s single issues, graphic novels or trade paperbacks there are many ways to absorb this medium.
